Newcomers Committee
The purpose of the Newcomer Committee is to help the Church of the Ascension to reach out to newcomers in the greater Munich area, to welcome and invite them into our church family and to support them as they become integrated into our community. Volunteers are needed to fulfill a variety of jobs including greeting new people, preparing a weekly bulletin board, organising materials for newcomers and simply helping new members to feel welcome.
Coffee Hour Helpers
The Coffee Hour team serves coffee, tea and soft drinks to the congregation after the Eucharist. There is a rota for volunteers and there are usually two people on duty each Sunday. This is a very important ministry offering hospitality and being able to speak to the parishioners as we offer them refreshments. Volunteers are always welcome.
Golden Girls
We are group of women who are over fifty, and practising to become 50, and we meet in the Parish House about four times a year. We aim to build relationships and support each other as we grow older. New members are always welcome.
Women’s Retreat
A Women’s Retreat for ALL women in the parish has been held every year since 2006. Since 2008 we have been meeting at Kloster Armstorf in St Wolfgang. The Kloster is run by Franciscan sisters and this is how they describe the reason for inviting us all to spend time with them in their home.
‘The desire for retreat and silence, contemplation and meditation is a need and an inner concern for people today. We share our living space with you for rest and reflection.’
The retreat gives us an opportunity to withdraw from our daily lives and as a result, we are able to listen to God’s voice with fewer distractions. It also helps us to appreciate the true value of sharing with and listening to each other, allowing us to be more ourselves in a safe and loving environment.

WOMEN ON THE GO
Women on the Go is a group of active women who set out to discover the hidden delights of Munich and its surrounding areas. We aim to bring women of all ages together to explore this lovely part of the world. The walk ends with lunch at a restaurant where we experience the joy of fellowship. Please do join us on our next venture, which is advertised in the church bulletin and the church calendar.

Men’s Night Out
Check our calendar for our Men’s night out dates. Once a month the men of Ascension and their friends are invited to come together for fellowship and talk in a restaurant or beer garden. This is a particularly good way of meeting others in the Ascension community.
